This is my first ever blog post. I am partially using it to test this whole thing out as I am new to making websites.
But…
If you are here anyway, why don’t I share a little background?
My dad got this domain for me quite a few years back when I was around sixth grade. He let me play around with it, which I promptly did for about three days before abandoning it. At that time, I had fun making a site, but it never had any purpose and so it was left to rot. I knew I would come back some day. And as it turns out, that day is today.
The problem (aside from having to re-learn WordPress) is that I was initially conflicted on what the purpose of my website should be. The idea to come back originally came from a creative writing course I am currently taking. The assignment was to make some blog entries in order to work on expressing a “voice” in our writing. But this got me thinking: “I have a website. Why don’t I do it for real instead of in a dinky little Google Doc?” However, I knew going in that this website should have more than simply a blog.
So while I cannot yet know for sure how I will further develop this site, I do have some fun ideas. I want to make an art gallery to show off the things I make. I also want to post some of the things that I write. Finally, I would love to share music here. I aspire to write some more songs and upload a recording of them here someday.
The last thing I feel worth adding to this post is to write a little about me.
My name is Emma Doyle. As I am writing, this I am a senior in high school. I love reading, writing, singing, music, making art, and making people smile. I play the guitar, the flute, and a rather mediocre piano. My family has two cats, and even though I call them hairy turds, I love them dearly. I also regularly play Dungeons and Dragons with some friends. We try to meet each week and have been playing together for almost three years now. Finally, I really enjoy acting and musicals.
Maybe I am just writing into the void here. But that is okay with me. I find writing therapeutic even when no one else is reading.
